Picasso now BOGART has found his forever home.  A wonderful lady has opened
her heart and welcomed him to her family.  When we went to visit her and do the

required Boston Buddies Homecheck, there was a poster on the door with Picasso's

photo on it saying "Welcome to your forever home!"  WOW.  Well it was love at first sight

for both and we are so thrilled that April and Bogart have found each other.

Bogart's entire demeanor changed when he got his

ear operation.   So in fact, this happy story couldn't have

taken place without your help.  Special thanks to

foster mom Wendy, who's devotion, compassion,

and love helped to heal this wonderful dog.

IMPORTANT PICASSO UPDATE JUNE 11

We decided that it was unfair to Picasso to make him wait until we raised

the funds for his operation so we went ahead and had it done. The

vet will work with us 'til we can cover the costs which is very nice!

It was a success.  Here is an update from Wendy.  I took out the comments where

Wendy describes how handsome and nice the vet is!

The surgery on Friday went really well and Dr. Polidoro told me that

Picasso responded perfectly. He was
doing so well that when I went to visit him on Saturday, they let me take
him home, which will speed up his recovery and keep the cost down.

He was originally scheduled to be released Sunday afternoon.
He was pretty dopey for a while on Saturday but was very focused on going
for the longest walk possible. He's adjusted to his
Elizabethan collar. He has 5-6 large stitches
down the right side of his head and two stitches each on the sides of his
snout where they removed his warts.

He's going to be perfect when the
stitches come out in two weeks.
That's the latest.

So your good thoughts and prayers for Picasso are working.

Now lets find him the perfect

forever home where he can be loved and cherished!

We got a great letter from his foster mom Wendy
and want to share it with you.

I have had the pleasure of his company since March 30, 2006.

Let me tell you a little bit about the boy, or man I should say.

Picasso is large for a Boston, he weighs 30 pounds.
He responds so well to love and affection, once he lets his guard down. He
was very suspicious of me at first and has some definite abandonment issues.
He does not trust easily or quickly. For the first few weeks he would try
to dart out the door at any opportunity. But with patience and love he has
blossomed into a fun loving pup. He not longer tries to escape and seems
relaxed and comfy. I must admit to spoiling him.
He loves to be stroked and to cuddle up close. He uses his front legs like
little hands and arms to beg for more.
I walk him 3-4 times a day for about 20 minutes/per. This is as much for me
as for him. He could probably do with less, especially if he had a yard
(which he does not currently have at my place). But any yard would have to
be escape proof. Old habits die hard.

He has very little proper training so he does pull on the leash
occasionally. He is comfortable in his harness, which works best for him.
Picasso does not socialize with other dogs. I have tried to introduce him
to dogs I know and love in my neighborhood but it has never gone well. But
it's not a big deal - we just avoid other dogs on our walks and everybody is
happy. He is not the aggressor on those occasions where we do come close to
other dogs but once the butt sniffing thing starts, I think he gets very
nervous and afraid and he lunges and growls.

Picasso is very loyal and protective . He does very well with all people
but currently needs to be monitored when playing with small children because
of his painful and sensitive ear that makes him a little head shy with
strangers and rough housing children. My 2-1/2 year old friend Tess thinks
he's great and has renamed him Costco.

The doctor told me that the surgery he needs on his right ear will
completely resolve the problem. He will have very limited hearing in that
ear after the surgery, although the Dr. tells me it is possible that his
hearing is already compromised due to the long term infection.
Picasso is not deaf as far as I can tell. He comes from another room when
he hears me open the treat bag in the kitchen!
Picasso is not a barker. He does not bark when I leave him in the apt.
alone (so my neighbors tell me). He does bark when someone comes to the
door. But I like that.
This is a lovely dog that deserves a loving home where he is the only pet. I
think he would do well with a senior that likes to walk or has a yard for
him to exercise in.

Please look into your hearts and see if you can

help us get Picasso the surgery he needs. I will

keep a running tally and post it here on his

special page.  We appreciate your support

and love for all Bostons!

Picasso Thanks you with all of his heart!
